# Pick Rules

> Choose which location an order is picked from when the same product is in stock in more than one place.

## Buttons, fields, and controls

| Pick Rule Mode                | Top of the page | Chooses how AIM decides where to pick from — the same order for everything, or a per-product order. | Start with one order for everything and only go per-product when a specific item genuinely needs it. |
| Location Priority Order       | Main panel      | The list of your locations, in the order they are tried. The first location with stock wins.        | Put the location you want emptied first at the top.                                                  |
| Search pick rules             | Left panel      | Finds a product that has its own picking order.                                                     | Use it to check or change a single product without scrolling.                                        |
| Fulfillment preview locations | Product row     | Shows which location a sale of that product would be picked from right now.                         | Use it when a sale was picked from somewhere you did not expect.                                     |

## How to: Always sell from the warehouse before the shop

1. Set Pick Rule Mode to use one order for all products.
2. Drag your warehouse to the top of the Location Priority Order.
3. Put the shop below it.
4. Save. Sales now take from the warehouse until it runs out.

  A Dunk Low sells online. There are 3 pairs in the warehouse and 1 in the shop, so the warehouse pair is picked and the shop floor keeps its pair.

## How to: Give one product its own picking order

1. Switch Pick Rule Mode to per-product.
2. Search for the product.
3. Set the location order you want just for that product.
4. Use the preview to confirm the location it now picks from.

<Tip title="Real-world example">
  Consignment pairs are stored at one location and should always be picked from there, even though everything else picks from the warehouse first.
</Tip>

## Good to know

* A location with no stock is skipped, so a picking order is a preference, not a guarantee.
* If a sale was picked from the wrong place, check the preview first — it shows the current decision without you having to sell anything.
* Picking order affects where stock leaves from. It does not change prices or where things are listed.
