# Returns & Exchanges

> Track customer returns and exchanges from your Shopify store, and confirm the returned stock came back into your counts correctly.

Track customer returns and exchanges from your Shopify store, and confirm the returned stock came back into your counts correctly.

**Where to find it:** [Open Returns & Exchanges in AIM](https://aimventory.com/retail/returns) — you will be asked to sign in first.

## What you can do here

* See every return and exchange, who it was for, and how much was refunded
* Open a return to view its items, the customer's reason, and whether the stock was put back
* Spot returns that came back damaged or were never restocked
* Double-check that AIM's stock count matches Shopify after a return, and fix it if it drifted

## Buttons, fields, and controls

## How to: Review a return and check the stock came back

1. Click a return's row to open its full details.
2. Read the customer's reason for each returned item.
3. Look at the "Restocked" column: "Yes" means the pair is back in your sellable count; "No" (orange) means it was not put back.
4. Check "Item Dispositions" to see whether Shopify marked the pair as restocked, damaged, or missing.

<Tip title="Real-world example">
  A customer returns a Dunk Low Panda size 10 as "too small". You open the return, see Restocked: Yes, and the pair is back in your available count — nothing more to do.
</Tip>

## How to: Confirm AIM and Shopify agree on the count

1. Open a return that has not had its inventory adjusted yet.
2. AIM shows a "Shopify Inventory Check" comparing your AIM count against the live Shopify count for each returned item.
3. If a row says "mismatch", the two systems disagree on how many you have.
4. Click "Reconcile" to push AIM's count to Shopify so they line up again.

<Tip title="Real-world example">
  After a return, AIM shows 4 on hand but Shopify shows 3. The row is flagged "mismatch" — click Reconcile and both will read 4.
</Tip>

## Good to know

* Restocking a return adds the pair back to your available count so it can sell again. A return marked "Not Restocked" (or "damaged") does NOT add stock back — handle that pair yourself before relisting it.
* Returns and exchanges are created by your customers on your Shopify store. This page is for tracking and verifying them, not for starting one.
* An exchange means the customer swapped for a different item — you'll see the item that came back AND the new item that went out.
* Use the audit (timeline) icon on any item to see every stock change for that size, so you can prove exactly what happened and when.
